Transition to Teaching

Post-Baccalaureate, Non-Degree Licensure Program

Admission into the Transition to Teaching program is a three step process:

  1. The application must be submitted to Education Student Services by February 1.
  2. Approval of your degree content must be obtained from the content area advisor. This may require an on-campus interview.
  3. Following successful completion of the first two steps, a final on-campus interview must be completed with the College of Education department associated with your licensing level.

Admission is not complete until approval is given at each of the three levels.

Application Process

Complete an “Application to the Transition to Teaching Program,” including:

Admission standards require a 3.0 minimum grade point average (GPA) both in the major content area and overall, or a 2.5 minimum GPA both in the major content area and overall and 5 years professional experience in the subject area that you intend to teach*, or a graduate degree in the subject area.

Once approved for admission to the Transition to Teaching program by the College of Education, an application to the School of Graduate Studies must be filled out and submitted to Grad School. Application can be found at: http://web.indstate.edu/sogs/GradNewtemp/ndadmapp.doc
