Admission into the Transition to Teaching program is a three step process:
Admission is not complete until approval is given at each of the three levels.
Complete an “Application to the Transition to Teaching Program,” including:
Candidate Statement (500 words or less):
Describe the sequence of events that has brought you to the decision to pursue becoming a licensed teacher in Indiana.
Describe any subject area training, related professional experiences, and life-long learning experiences that relate directly to the skills, knowledge, and professional attributes associated with a career in education.*
Check or money order payable to Indiana State University for $75 credential evaluation fee which will be non-refundable.
A current resume.
Official transcripts sent in sealed envelopes from all institutions at which any undergraduate or graduate work has been done.
Admission standards require a 3.0 minimum grade point average (GPA) both in the major content area and overall, or a 2.5 minimum GPA both in the major content area and overall and 5 years professional experience in the subject area that you intend to teach*, or a graduate degree in the subject area.
Three recommendations: supply the names, postal addresses, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers of three individuals who can speak to your experience in an education-related field, or professional experience in the subject area you intend to teach.
Provide original score reports for required licensure examinations. Contact Education Student Services, 812-237-3131, for up-to-date information on state licensure testing.
PRAXIS I: PPST (Basic Skills: Reading, Writing, Mathematics) is required prior to beginning the T2T program.
Praxis II for your content area is required prior to Student Teaching.
