Services

In addition to the professional staff of the OERE, a select group of faculty members with special OERE appointments provides the following kinds of assistance to School of Education faculty and staff members and to personnel in schools and related agencies:

• Help prepare competitive proposals to intramural and extramural funding sources for support of research and evaluation projects

  • Help conceptualize and design research or evaluation projects

  • Help identify potential funding sources for research and evaluation projects

  • Help prepare and submit project proposals, including: reviewing and editing drafts of proposals, developing proposal budgets and timelines, designing project evaluation components, obtaining human subjects committee review, obtaining approvals and signatures, and providing methodological, statistical, and psychometric consultation

  • Help negotiate, manage, and evaluate funded research and evaluation projects

• Help design and conduct research and evaluation projects that support the development of theory and support instruction

  • Help conceptualize research and evaluation projects and identify appropriate quantitative or qualitative research or evaluation designs

  • Help determine sample sizes and sampling procedures

  • Help develop plans and timelines for completing research or evaluation projects

  • Help identify, select, critique, and develop instruments for research and evaluation projects

  • Provide assistance in collecting, coding, entering, storing, and managing project data

  • Provide assistance in planning and completing analyses of project data

• Help disseminate the outcomes of research and evaluation projects

  • Provide consultation on technical writing, including format, style, and layout

  • Provide technical editing of manuscripts

  • Provide presubmission reviews of manuscripts

  • Provide assistance preparing tables and graphs

  • Provide assistance in locating and selecting appropriate publication outlets

  • Provide assistance revising manuscripts for publication in professional journals

  • Provide assistance preparing for the presentation of a paper or a poster at a professional meeting

• Help increase skills in the use of information technology, including software for data base development and management, spreadsheet development and budgeting, statistical analyses, word processing, page layout and graphics, graphing, reference data base management, and multimedia presentations.
