The Porter School Psychology Center is a training clinic for advanced level school psychology graduate students. The Porter Center is located within the School Psychology floor (6th floor) of the Bayh College of Education. It focuses on promoting the general welfare of children, their families, and adults by providing educational, psychological, and behavioral evaluations and interventions. Second-year school psychology students refine their knowledge of current academic, psychological, and behavioral problems as well as develop effective interpersonal skills while working with their individual clients. Students work through the entire case from the initial intake, assessments, intervention planning, consultation and collaboration with teachers and parents, implementation of the intervention, and evaluation of their treatment. Porter Center clinicians are supervised by School Psychology faculty, 3rd year Ph.D. students, and by one another through the use of one-way mirrors and video recording. The Porter Center provides a valuable experience for School Psychology students to apply the information learned through coursework and other practicum experiences.
