  Rotate and Flip a Picture

Sometimes you may need rotate an image so it appears upright.

For example if you took a picture by turning the camera 90 degrees, you will need to rotate to it an upright position.

This images needs to be rotated to the left for proper orientation.

This images needs to be rotated to the right for proper orientation.

The result is an image that is upright.

In other instances you may want to completely flip an image.  There are two ways to flip and image, horizontally or vertically.

A horizontal flip basically make what was originally the right edge the left edge and visa-versa.  If you look carefully at the image below you will see that the printing is backwards.  This could also be called a mirror image of the original image.

A vertical flip exchanges the bottom of the image for the top.

Because it is flipping the image rather than rotating, the printing is backwards.  Again this is like a mirror image.
