The student affairs master's degree is a 39-credit-hour program that prepares
individuals to work in a variety of student affairs and higher education offices
in colleges and universities. The program curriculum includes significant
supervised practice course work and blends class-based, practicum-based, and
independent learning experiences.
Students can complete the program in two years on campus or three years using
distance education (the Internet). Three courses (SAHE 533, SAHE 641, and SAHE 652)
must be taken in a regular classroom at an accredited university and credit
transferred to ISU with consent of the student's advisor.
Students must work full time on a campus and should have access to taking the
required in-class courses or the ability to take classes at ISU in the summer.
The distance education program is designed for the student affairs professional
who is working full-time on campus and is time- and place-bound. The on-campus
and distance education curricula and courses are the same and only vary in their
delivery. No distinctions will be made between students or between courses, and
students are welcome to mix formats for their convenience.
