 Introduction
 
      In 1947, the Driver Education Program  was established as a teacher education program. The faculty and staff have developed programs for teacher preparation, learn to drive, special population training, and motorcycle rider education. The staff provides programs consistent with rules established by  the Indiana Department of Education, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, City of Terre Haute and others. It has provided facilities and programs for the Indiana State University Police, Vigo County Extension Office, and other area programs.
    The faculty and staff have been developing and implementing programs in the following areas: Teacher preparation, Learn to Drive, Rider Education, bicycle safety, and  pedestrian safety.
     The teacher education is a campus and distance education program using the IHETS and Blackboard to deliver the program to students though-out the state.
