PURPOSE:
ISU's Child Care Center is designed as a
comprehensive child care/child development center to serve the children,
6 weeks to 5 years, of ISU students, faculty, staff members, and
community families. An
additional feature of its design is to provide an exemplary child care
program for academic research and training. This program is designed for
children whose parents/guardians have work or school obligations.
CURRICULUM:
The Child Care Center offers an
experienced-based curriculum, emphasizing a developmental approach to
learning, with the child as an active participant. The content areas
stressed are: language development, music, movement, dramatic play,
science, mathematics, and art.
PROGRAMS:
Two programs, infant/toddler and two to
five year old, are designed to meet the needs and learning abilities of
each age group and of individual children. Infant/toddlers,
children six weeks to two years of age, receive care to meet their
individual needs, schedules, and developmental levels. Children
are encouraged to explore their world in a safe, cheerful, well-equipped
facility that promotes activities fostering trust and curiosity.
Two to five year olds develop confidence and self-esteem by
participating in a variety of experiences that explore the areas of
music, movement, creative arts, books, and nature.
