Ilya Bolotowsky
(1907-1981)
Studying at
the National Academy of Design in New York, Boltowsky’s geometric
abstractions are a direct descendent of the Neo-Plasticism of Piet
Mondrian. Following through on the notion that there can be a
specific order and balance within the visual arts.
Bolotowsky
received several commissions from the WPA to paint his geometric
murals throughout public spaces in New York during the nineteen
thirties and forties.
