J.C. Johansen

In 1898
Johansen studied in Paris at James Whistler’s Academic Carmen. An
American Realist trained in the classic French tradition,
specializing in landscapes and later portraiture.
“The
Prelude” has been exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art,
Washington D.C. in the 2nd Exhibition of Contemporary
American Oil Painting in 1908.
