Jim Dine (1935 - )

Lived in New York, known for Pop Expression, Sculpture, and Graphics. Jim Dine’s artwork can be categorized as Pop Expressionism.  A painter and assemblage artist, Dine uses single shapes or designs such as hearts, lab coats,  and letters from the alphabet.

These are combined with heavy dramatic washes of spontaneous paint application, usually working in direct contrast to the shape.  Dine studied at the University of Cincinnati.
