Robert Indiana (1928 - )

Born Robert Clark, in New Castle, IN.  His work is seminal to the Pop Art Movement sing roadside signs and simple words taken to an enormous scale.  Indiana’s “Love” series debuting in 1966 became a defining image for the Pop Art Movement, as well as the cultural revolution of the 1960’s.

With the image of “Love” being lionized on a United States postage stamp in 1973.  As his work has taken on mythical proportions in the American psyche, Indiana’s search for a deeper meaning outside of the commercial continues.
