Roberto Sebastian Antonio Matta (1911-2002)

Lived in New York, known for Abstract Figurative, and Surreal.

Trained as an architect and interior designer, Matta’s storied career brings the Chilean born artist under the surreal influences of Dali and Breton.

After moving to New York, Matta’s work evolved into a biomorphic abstraction.  His landscapes remain intact, with the imagery containing the themes of humanity versus machines.
