The American Democracy Project is a multi-campus initiative that seeks to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduates enrolled at institutions that are members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. The goal of the project is to produce graduates who understand and are committed to engaging in meaningful actions as citizens in a democracy. The American Democracy Project is co-sponsored by AASCU and the New York Times and includes nearly 200 AASCU institutions.

The Hull House Service Learning trip is an opportunity for students from a variety of majors to collaborate on a social justice service-learning project. This service-learning experience centers around Jane Addams and Hull House, the settlement house she founded. The intended student outcomes include a more sophisticated understanding of civic and political action, as well as differing conceptions of approaches to social justice. At the end of the service learning experience we expect students, among other things, to be more informed and responsibly involved with their relevant communities and to have the appreciation of the global dimensions of many issues.
This year's Hull House Service Learning Trip is scheduled for Friday, September 26-Sunday, September 28. The cost to students is $100.00. Please contact Crystal Brown at the Center for Public Service and Community Engagement to sign up for the trip.
