How do I file a Curriculum Petition
Each College follows a different
process; in some Colleges the student initiates the curriculum petition; in
others the academic adviser does.
When requesting that a course,
which is not designated as a General Education course, meets a General Education
requirement, please explicitly state how the course’s content does this.
When adviser error is the reason
for why the student did not meet a General Education requirement, please say so.

about the student’s personal life (e.g. “has a family,” “works full-time,” “has

Please note, students may take either test anytime while at ISU. Practice tests are available for in some cases. Please visit the testing website for more information. Students take these tests from the University Testing facility located in Erickson Hall. Students will need their University ID, no passwords are necessary.
Can I take courses in my native language to satisfy the foreign language requirement?
Students wishing to take a language course in their native language or in a language in which they have achieved fluency must petition the LLL Department to receive course credit.
In most cases students may not fulfill their foreign language requirement by taking courses in their native language.
Credit will be granted only if it is determined by the LLL Department that the course covers materials or develops skills that the student has not yet mastered.
No mastery credit will be awarded to students for courses in their native language (credit for 101, 102, 201 or 202) upon completion of a higher level course

Completion of “boot camp” as an active enlistee or a reservist meets this requirement
The department modifies the lab portion of the class for students with disabilities.
Students with disabilities may take the course online.
If a student has medical documentation that they cannot take the lab portion of the class, the lab will be waived, but the student still will be required to enroll in the lecture portion of the class.

Is a Science lab really required?
Students must enroll in both the lecture and the lab to receive full credit for the course. Failure to complete a science lab will result in repeating the course.
