INTRODUCTION
   
Graduate study in the Department of Recreation and Sport Management is designed to strengthen the basic principles and
    understandings in the recreation and sport management disciplines. The program meets the guidelines for graduate degrees
     in sport management established by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the North American
    
Association for Sport Management.

    FACILITIES
    The Department of Recreation and Sport Management is located in the School of Health and Human Performance Building.
     The department manages
the ISU Field Campus and the Memorial Stadium Golf Course. Further, theThe University library
     holdings in recreation and sport management are excellent and include subscriptions to many recreation and sport
      management journals and periodicals.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
    
In addition to the requirements of the School of Graduate Studies for admission, applicants are expected to have completed
     an undergraduate major in recreation, sport, physical education, business, or related field. Applicants with deficiencies may
     be granted conditional admission. Students failing to meet GPA requirements will be required to take the GRE and attain a
     combined score of 800 in the verbal and quatitive sections. Students without a sport management or recreation major will be
     required to take RCSM 510 as a prerequisite. Prospective students should submit official transcripts and three letters of
     recommendation. Students must meet admission standards as established by the Graduate School for full or conditional
     admission. International students must submit a TOEFL score no less than 550.

     Several graduate assistantships are available through the Department of Recreation and Sport Management. Other
     assistantships and financial assistance are available through other sources on campus. All are awarded on a competitive
     basis.

     CURRICULA REQUIREMENTS

     Master of Arts (Thesis) (36 semester hours minimum)

    
Research: RCSM 604 or Physical Education 601, 605, 699 – 9 hours
   
 Major: RCSM 620, 621, 622, 623, 624, 631, 635, Physical Education 665. – 24 hours
   
 Internship: 629 – 3 hours

    
Culminating Experience: Satisfactory performance on a thesis defense.

    Master of Science (Non-Thesis) (36 semester hours minimum)

     Research: RCSM 604 or Physical Education 601 – 3 hours
    
Major: RCSM 620, 621, 622, 623, 624, 631, 635, Physical Education 665. Select 6 credit hours (2 courses)
                 from: RCSM 627, 633, 690, or Physical Education 666 – 30 hours
    
Internship: 629 – 3 hours

     Culminating Experience: Satisfactory performance on culminating comprehensive examination.
