WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BALANCING HONORS WITH OTHER CAMPUS/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTS?
I find it helpful to keep a schedule of everything I have to do—assignments, meetings, work, etc. This allow me know exactly what I have time for and helps me balance all of my obligations.
HOBBIES/INTERESTS:
I really enjoy ballroom dancing (swing, waltz, and tango are my favorites!). Shopping, playing Scrabble, reading, writing, and baking are also enjoyable pastimes I partake in frequently.
FAVORITE PLACES IN TERRE HAUTE:
Starbucks
Wise Pies
Collett and Deming Park
ISU Library
Ritters Custard
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE HONORS CLASS SO FAR, AND WHY?
The Fall of the Roman Republic with Dr. Bisch has definitely been my favorite Honors course. She is an amazing professor with a passion for learning and teaching. This spirit pours over in her classes and helps excite and engage students with the material and learning in general. Take her if you can!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT BEING AN HONORS STUDENT?
I really love the classes that are offered. We have the opportunity to learn about incredibly interesting subjects—from the Fall of the Roman Republic to the Ethics of Twilight Zone—in a wonderful learning environment. The small class sizes offer individualized attention from some of the very best professors our school has to offer and a chance to become actively engaged with the subject and other highly motivated students.
BEST PLACES TO STUDY OR STUDY TIPS FOR HONORS FRESHMEN?
I study best at the library or coffee shops. Coffee Grounds is nice because it is within walking distance to campus, but my favorite coffee shop is Starbucks.
Studyblue.com is a great website that allows you to make note cards and either print them off or study them online.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR?
I’m excited (and nervous) to start applying for graduate programs and see what and where the next step in my education will be!
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR FRESHMEN HONORS STUDENTS?
Try something new. Take advantage of being in college and take a class that is a little out of your comfort zone—whether it’s a sculpture class or a dance class or a creative writing course—try something that you’ve never done before. You’ll end up becoming a more rounded individual and might even unleash a passion you never knew you had.
