honors student to present oncology research at national conference

This April, Honors Student and Sophomore Chemistry major Logan Fulford will have the opportunity to present his oncology research at the 23rd National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) in La Crosse, WI. NCUR was designed especially for the presentation of undergraduate  research endeavors and students from all fields of study are eligible to participate. The 2009 conference will take place from April 16-18.

Logan will be giving a 35 minute presentation entitled "Analysis of Lumican Function in Prostate Adenocarcinoma" about his work trying to isolate the effects of a series of biochemicals that alter the amount of blood vessels that can enter a tumor. Preventing blood from entering a tumor can help prevent the growth and spread of cancer.

Logan is a McNair Scholar at Indiana State, and is currently assisting with oncology research under Dr. Alan Albig, Assistant Professor of Life Sciences at ISU.
