The Employee Assistance office is offering a free
Pilates/Yoga Class. Classes
are held at Rankin Hall room 300 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 to
5:45. Yoga is about creating
balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility.
The style practiced in class are poses done quickly in
succession, creating heat in the body through movement or more slowly to
increase stamina and perfect the alignment of the pose.
The class welcomes anyone wanting and willing to practice Yoga
even if you don't feel like you are very flexible or very strong. These
things will develop over time.
Pilates combines elements of yoga and bodywork to strengthen the
core which includes the muscles of the abdomen and lower back.
It also increases flexibility/toning in the legs, arms, and
smaller muscle groups.
That is why Yoga and Pilates works so well together as a class.
This class is a mixture of Pilates and Yoga.
