HOMESTAYS

One way for students to get the most of their cross-cultural experience at INTERLINK is to live with American families. Living with an American family gives students the opportunity to practice their English outside of the classroom, learn more about American customs and culture, and make life-long friends. Homestays are dependent on availability of host families. If you apply and cannot be placed, your application fee will be refunded.

OTHER HOUSING

Dormitory rooms are available for both married and single INTERLINK students. ISU family housing is available at their University Apartments complex with shuttle bus service to campus and around town. (This complex is within walking distance to the local Farrington Grove elementary school.) Dormitories on campus offer single, double, and suite occupancy. University meal plans are available for the on campus dormitories, and the University Housing units include individual kithens. For more information on university housing and the meal plan, click here. There are also apartments and houses available for rent in the Terre Haute area. However, this housing would need to be arranged by the students before or after arrival here.

AIRPORT PICKUP

If requested, INTERLINK will arrange for commercial airport pickup at the Indianapolis International Airport, a one hour drive from Terre Haute. The cost for this service is $125 per vehicle required. The driver will provide transportation to campus and assist with check-in. The driver will also provide additional shopping assistance the following day to help purchase necessities such as sheets, bedding, cell phone, etc. Airport pickup can be requested on the INTERLINK application form.

ORIENTATION

Upon arrival, all INTERLINK students receive a three-day orientation to the program, campus and city of Terre Haute. A representatve from ISU Housing answers students' questions about campus housing options and policies, a representative from the bank on campus assists students who desire to open a bank account, and ISU and INTERLINK students give a campus tour.

HEALTH SERVICES

INTERLINK students have full access to the university health center. Students on student visas are required by ISU and the State of Indiana to have medical insurance. The cost of the INTERLINK plan is $165 per 9 week term. If students are covered by other plans, that coverage must be equal to or better than that of the INTERLINK plan, and the provider must have offices located in the United States. Students are required to show proof of that their own insurance meets these requirements.
