What is Indoor
Cycling?
This program is intended for all ages and all levels of
fitness. This non-impact cardiovascular workout
utilizes a specially
designed stationary bike called the Spinner NXT. Every bit of it
is non-impact.
Location
The center is located in the basement of HMSU. To access the
facility please use the elevators near the HMSU Information Center
desk or the stairwell next to the elevators and proceed one level down
to the
Indoor Cycling Center. Once the door to the Indoor
cycling Center has been closed, access will not be permitted.
This is necessary to avoid the continuity of the class form being
compromised as a result of individual's arriving after the class has
already started.
Requirements
LeClub members attending the Indoor Cycling classes must first
check-in at the HMSU Le Club and
acquire an admission card in order to
be admitted to the In-door Cycling Center.
Admission cards
cannot be reserved in advance, and will only be distributed on an
individual basis.
All participants are to bring a 20-40 ounce
container of water with a lid that will fit appropriately in the
bottle holder located on the bike.
Participants will not be permitted
to participate in the Indoor Cycling
program if they do not have some
form of water bottle with them.
Participants must continually hydrate
themselves during the activity as a matter of safety. Participants are also
advisable to bring a towel to
class.
Recommendations
Wearing padded bike shorts is also recommended. Individuals attending
the Indoor Cycling program on a regular basis find the initial
discomfort of the seat to subside when wearing bike shorts.
Participants
have found the purchase and use of a gel seat also makes the ride
more comfortable. A stiff soled shoe
such as a cross trainer is
advisable to wear. Prior to morning Indoor Cycling classes, it is
advisable to
consume some form of carbohydrates. Juice would be an
optimal choice.
Participants must arrive 10 minutes
prior to the start of each session. FIRST TIME RIDERS should come
at
least 15 minutes in order for the instructor to properly establish the
appropriate seat and handle bar
setting for the participant.
