Scholar Biography:
I am a double major in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and Legal Studies.  My minor is Spanish.  My goals are to become a successful attorney for the state of Indiana.  I am currently the Co-Founder of GLAM (Gorgeous Ladies Acting Maturely) this program is designed to mentor at risk young girls between the ages of 9-18 years old.  I have my Certification in Public Speaking and Leadership Training.  I have been blessed with he wonderful opportunity to be a part of the McNair Graduate Opportunity Program.  I have also received the Focus Indiana Scholarship.  I plan to do lots of research in areas that will help reduce violence among young people.  Also I want t help the youth of today build better leadership and communication skills within their communities and school.  I have received and an internship at Senator Bayh's office starting May 2008.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to assist with issues like community initiatives, policy issues as well as learn the important roles of a Senator.  McNair is a wonderful opportunity to further my education and get a Masters in Communication and go to law school.
I plan to focus on areas of communication, the importance of taking care of the environment and most of all I want to be a wonderful role model to the youth.  I have done several workshops with the Mayor's office and I am a youth leader for the Christamore House in Indianapolis, Indiana where we promote the Peace in the Streets Initiative with our communities and all over Indianapolis.  I look forward to getting more knowledge from the McNair Scholars and faculty, as well as working on research that can help promote peace, education, and leadership training to the youth of today.
