I am a senior criminology and criminal justice major
at Indiana State University. My summer research for the McNair Program focused on existing sex
offender registry laws by state. Other areas of interest include
domestic violence and correctional reentry programs.
|
|
As a non-traditional and first-generation college
student, I have found college to be a very rewarding experience. I am
grateful for the opportunity to be a McNair Scholar due to my increased
knowledge in scholarly research, as well as graduate school preparation.

|
As a mother of five, I believe that hard work is
rewarding and that higher education is a possibility for anyone
determined to succeed.
|
|
Besides obtaining my Ph.D., my ultimate goal is to
set an example for anyone faced with challenges in their life. I truly
believe that a combination of determination and a willingness to absorb
the wisdom of others will lead to a brighter future. I hope to one day
teach at the university level and possibly work in public administration
in an effort to mold future generations.
