McNair Graduate Opportunity Program

McNair Graduate Assistant

Fue Yang
Name: Fue Yang
Class Standing: Graduate Student
Academic Area: Mental Health Counseling
Biography:
Fue recently completed his undergraduate degree at The College of St. Scholastica, in Duluth, Minnesota, where he was a former McNair Scholar. Fue graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and minored in Gerontology. This is his first year here at ISU, in which he is currently enrolled in the Master’s program in Mental Health Counseling. He is very proud of his Hmong culture and background, thus is focusing his research interests towards his community and its relations to his profession. Fue’s McNair experience has been a blessing, the program exposed him to graduate school, published his research, sent him to numerous conferences, and paired him with one of the greatest mentors Sister Edith Bogue. Education has always been a passion of Fue’s. It is the means to survive in today’s society. One day, he hopes to be an educator at a college level and run his own private practice. If Fue could give any suggestions about the McNair program, it would be "Carpe diem" with every chance this program has to offer. This is one of the most influential programs he has ever been a part of. He suggests if anyone has any questions or concerns to feel free to stop by his office in Dreiser Hall.
