The School of Music
at Indiana State University

Welcome to the School of Music at Indiana State University, a school with a long-standing tradition of excellence in the training of musicians for a variety of professional pursuits. Indiana State music graduates have distinguished themselves in a variety of ways. Many are outstanding teachers in public schools, colleges/universities and private studios while others have achieved recognition in such specialized areas as music business and performance. The music faculty, a community of scholars, performers and teachers, share an uncommonly strong commitment to their students in the school.

Congratulations to Kyle Miller for winning the President’s Award for Civic and Community Leadership. The award is presented annually to an undergraduate student at Indiana State University who has made community and civic engagement integral to her/his college experience. The purpose of the award is to honor and encourage students who have given generously of their time and energy through participation in service learning activities. The award is presented at the Center for Community Engagement Awards Banquet on March 1, 2012. Kyle Miller is a cellist and senior Music Education major.

Congratulations also to our December music graduates, including Shelley Mitchell who received the President’s Medal for Leadership, Scholarship and Service, and Alissa Miller who received the Hines Memorial Medal for academic accomplishments. ISU Newsroom article
