Brower crowned as Miss Indiana State University

November 6, 2015

Vincennes native Madisson Brower won the title from a field of 22 participants in the 34th Miss ISU Scholarship Program.

Brower, daughter of Bill and Susi Brower and Monica Brower and a graduate of Lincoln High School, also won evening gown and swimsuit competitions.

Brower’s older sister, Alexia Brower, was her inspiration to participating in pageants.

“When I was 14, I went into sudden cardiac-arrest and my doctor told me I couldn’t play soccer unless I had an automated external defibrillator at all games and those are about $1,500,” said Brower.“ My sister began pageants before I did and for her platform she raised money for defibrillators and then it became a family effort. When I began pageants, my platform was the same as hers,” said Brower.

The junior health administration major is involved on campus with her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, and the sorority’s efforts to raise awareness and donations for arthritis research.

“I got more interested and educated about arthritis awareness and that led me to changing my platform to supporting the Arthritis Foundation.  It is a very sensitive and emotional cause to me,” said Brower.

Brower’s grandfather had double knee replacement and suffers from arthritis.

Brower previously won the titles of Miss Northwest Territory Outstanding Teen and Miss Banks of the Wabash Outstanding Teen.

By being named Miss Indiana State University, Brower won a total of $1,500 in scholarships through the Indiana State University Foundation and Barnes and Noble Bookstore.

The scholarships from the foundation, bookstore and Indiana State University Federal Credit Union will be presented during halftime of Indiana State’s men’s basketball game on Nov. 13.

Brower will compete for the title of Miss Indiana in Zionsville June 2016 for the chance to go to Miss America.

“Since coming to ISU, I wanted to make sure I was ready because ISU means a lot to me and I wanted to give some of that back,” said Brower.
