Bradley appointed to NCAA Presidential Forum

July 11, 2016

Indiana State University President Dan Bradley has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Presidential Forum.

The forum is comprised of one president or chancellor from each of the 32 Division I Conferences to provide counsel to the board on not only current issues but also the role of sports within higher education.

Indiana State has 15 Division I teams and is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference.

"My hope is to represent the interests of the Missouri Valley Conference and enhance awareness of the resource constraints faced by many Division I institutions and their student-athletes," Bradley said.

Bradley's term of service begins immediately and continues through Aug. 31, 2019. Meetings occur twice annually.

Created in spring 2015 from the former Presidential Advisory Group, the forum's purpose is to assist the NCAA Division I Board of Directors in accomplishing the association's strategic mission and to help meet the NCAA's core value of involving presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national level.

"Division I has important issues to tackle over the next several years. The presidents serving on the Presidential Forum will assist the board with the progress we all expect to make toward improving college athletics and the student-athlete experience," said University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides, board chair. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to implement reforms that will help ensure athletics remains an appropriate part of higher education and the development of our students."
