Indiana State School of Music to present holiday concert

November 22, 2016

The Indiana State University School of Music will present a Holiday Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 in the University Hall Theater, located in the Bayh College of Education building.

"This is going to be a really fun program," said Scott Buchanan, director of choral activities at Indiana State. "This is the first true holiday concert we have put on in the 15 years I've been here. We have so much talent, and we keep trying to find ways to get our students performing. Our original idea was to have just choral concert but, the word got out, and we kept getting asked to expand the program. So, our audience is going to experience quite an event."

The program will include the Indiana State Women's Choir, Men's Choir and Sycamore Singers. All groups will perform a wide variety of Christmas and holiday music. The Indiana State Faculty Brass Quintet will perform, along with the Indiana State Flute Choir.

Special appearances will be made by Indiana State voice faculty Colleen Davis and David Mannell.

"It is great to have so many entities willing to perform for our community. I hope this can become an annual tradition that catches on and continues to build," Buchanan said. "It will be wonderful weekend in Terre Haute to bring in the holiday season. Everyone should come out to the Miracle on 7th Street downtown event Friday evening, and then close out the weekend with some outstanding music on Sunday afternoon."

Tickets for the concert are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Please call 812-237-2763 for information.
