Kari Arnold graduated from Indiana State University with a BS with a major in nursing in 2007. She is currently working toward a graduate degree at ISU to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Originally from Frankfort, Indiana, Kari now lives in Evansville with her supportive husband and one year old daughter. She works full time at a local hospital on an Orthopedic Joint Replacement Unit. Kari feels honored to be selected as a recipient of this scholarship, and would like to sincerely thank the scholarship committee for this award.
Schani Baptiste graduated with her ASN in 2008 from the University of Indianapolis and her BSN in 2009 from the same university. She is currently enrolled at Indiana State University as a graduate student in the Family Nurse Practitioner concentration of the graduate nursing program. She currently works at a local hospital in the Indianapolis area on a busy post surgical unit that specializes in cancers and diseases on the ear, nose and throat. She is truly grateful for this award and would like to thank everyone on the nursing scholarship committee.
Jasmine Camp graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville in 2006. After graduation, she began the first five years of her nursing career in an oncology center. She worked closely with various surgeons, oncologists, and physicists in catheter placement that delivered high dose rate brachytherapy directly to tumors. After being accepted into the family nurse practitioner program, she decreased her hours at the cancer center to focus on her education. For financial assistance throughout the school year, she picked up a part time IV therapy position with a local hospital in Evansville. Jasmine is very grateful to be awarded this gift so that she is able to continue with her education.
Dana Dubuque is currently enrolled in the FNP track of the graduate nursing program. She obtained her BSN in nursing from USI in 1999. Dana is certified in pain management and currently works for a Magnet hospital in Evansville, IN. After graduation, Dana plans to specialize in geriatrics with hope of one day opening her own clinic. She wishes to thank Mr. and Mrs. Stanley along with the scholarship committee for choosing her for this very gracious award.
Angela Geissman began her nursing career as an L.P.N. in 1992. She went on to obtain her ASN in 2002 and in 2010 graduated with her BS with a major in nursing from ISU. She is currently enrolled in graduate school at ISU to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently working in home health. Outside of work and school, she has an amazing husband, who is very supportive of her and also a wonderful daughter who will be starting college in the fall.
Jennifer Inman is a student in the FNP track of the master's degree program. She anticipates graduating in December 2011. She obtained her BS with a major in nursing from ISU in 2008. After graduation, she plans to find a job in family practice or women's health in the Wabash Valley. Jennifer works PRN at UAP Clinic and Union Hospital ER. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, especially her 1 year old son. She is very thankful for this award!
Donna Knaebel is a student in the Nursing Education track of the master's degree program at ISU. She graduated with her BS with a major in nursing and a psychology minor from ISU in 2009. She begins her 3rd semester this fall and plans to graduate in 2012. She is honored to be selected as a recipient of this award and wishes to thank Donald and Mary Jo Stanley and the selection committee.
Stephanie Laws RN, BSN is pursuing her Masters of Science degree with a major in nursing and a concentration in Nursing Administration. Laws currently serves as the Project Associate at Union Hospital’s Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she is actively involved in telemedicine activities within her organization as well as activities with statewide and national partners. Through her involvement in the telemedicine community, she works extensively with colleagues to advance the use of telemedicine in rural Indiana communities to fill service gaps and improve the overall quality of health care services through technology. In 2010, Laws was instrumental in creating the Wabash Valley Rural Telehealth Network. Laws is a member of the American Telemedicine Association, National Rural Health Association, Indiana Rural Health Association, Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives, Indiana FCC Telehealth Advisory Committee, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Golden Key International Honor Society, and serves as the current President for the West Central Indiana Area Health Education Center. Ms. Laws would like to thank the Nursing Scholarship Committee and the donors for awarding her this scholarship.
Erica Mandsager graduated from Valparaiso University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2005. She was a non-traditional accelerated student who previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Erica has worked in a Burn and Trauma Unit, an Emergency Department, and a Heart Failure Clinic. She is currently in the Family Nurse Practitioner Track and hopes to return to the Emergency Department or a specialty clinic upon graduation. Erica enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. Erica would like to thank the scholarship committee for selecting her for this award as it will help to achieve her professional goals.
Mercy Moto is in her final year of the FNP track of the graduate nursing program. She plans to work in a family practice clinic when she graduates and plans to do missionary nursing in Africa in the future. Mercy started her nursing career at Midway College Kentucky where she received her ADN in 1998. In 2001, she completed her BSN at Governors State University. She has worked in critical care and women's prenatal care. She is thankful for her husband and children's support throughout her educational goals. She feels very blessed and grateful for this scholarship opportunity.
Julie Norlin graduated in 1978 with a Diploma in Nursing from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. After completing her BSN at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1988, she has worked in many nursing fields—orthopedics, urology, cardiac step-down, and Med-Surg. She currently works full-time at Putnam County Hospital in the Obstetrics unit, as well as ICU, Med-Surg, Outpatient Surgery, and ER. Feeling a need to mentor and share her nursing experience with new grads has led her to want to teach in some capacity. Beginning her Master’s in Nursing Administration track (as a flexible degree for teaching and/or administrative assignments) in 2007 has been an ongoing personal goal. Taking one class per semester was all that budgeting allowed and this scholarship will definitely help pay for books, distance education fees, and tuition to finish in 2012, and is very thankful for the scholarship committee’s selection of her for this award.
Amber Pitts would first like to say thank you for the special gift in the form of a scholarship. The award came as a surprise, and is very much appreciated. Amber was a 2009 graduate from Indiana State University College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services. She is currently employed at Union Hospital in the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse. Amber spent the last 2 years of nursing school working as a student nurse at Union Hospital. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant with the Sisters of Providence primarily in the Alzheimer's unit. Amber is currently working toward her masters degree with the goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Alyssa Robinson is a 2008 graduate from Indiana State University's CONHHS. She was a non-traditional student who also earned a BA from Ball State University in 2006. Initially, after graduating, Alyssa worked in a Neuro ICU at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She is currently working in the Trauma/Neurosurgical ICU at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She is in her final year of the Family Nurse Practitioner program at ISU. She is beyond grateful for this scholarship opportunity and award and is excited to continue working towards her educational goals.
Duane Seaborne is a distance learning student from Avon, IN. He graduated from Kent State University in 1996 with Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Early in his nursing career he worked in cardiac step-down and pediatric ICU. Since 2002 he has primarily worked in the operating room in various capacities. Since 2005 he has functioned as a clinical manger in surgical services. Duane is a certified nurse in perioperative services (CNOR). Balancing family life, furthering his education, and raising 3 kids with his wife (9, 5, & 4) has been challenging, however it has taught him a lot about himself in the process. Working within a Magnet facility has challenged him to further to his education. Duane plans to pursue an advanced nursing degree in Nursing Administration. He is extremely thankful and honored to have been selected for Donald and Mary Jo Stanley Scholarship.
Lisa Wilson graduated from the University of Utah in 2007 with degrees in Nursing and Economics. She currently works in Indianapolis as a critical care nurse, and is pursuing a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She would like to work as an FNP in Terre Haute, and contribute to the nursing profession through both practice and research. She enjoys gardening, playing the piano and caring for her three young children. She feels very honored to be selected for this scholarship, and appreciates the opportunity to attend Indiana State.
