FAQ for Using SPSS through the MyISU Portal

  1. How do I access SPSS through the MyISU Portal if I am a faculty member?
If you are a faculty member, please contact the Technology Support Center (812-237-2910) and request access.

  2. How do I request access to SPSS for my class if I am a faculty member?
Contact the Technology Support Center and provide students’ names, University ID Number’s, course name and section number.

  3. How do I access SPSS through the MyISU Portal if I am a student?
If you are a student, you must have a faculty member make the request for you to have access.

  4. Will I be able to access SPSS off-campus via the MyISU Portal?
Yes, you will be able to access SPSS anywhere you have internet access and with only one username and password.

  5. How long will class accounts remain active?
Class accounts will be active until the end of the semester. If students require access past the end of the semester, please inform the Technology Support Center how long the accounts will be needed.

  6. How do I save a file locally to my computer?
Files cannot be saved directly on the local machine. You will need to use the MyFiles network storage system found in the portal. Details on how to use MyFiles can be found in the SPSS through the My ISU Portal instructions.

  7. How do I print to my personal printer?
You cannot print SPSS files to your local printer at this time because the application is running virtually. If you downloaded it to your desktop and tried to print, it would not be able to find SPSS to open the file.

  8. Who should I contact if I am having issues accessing SPSS?
Contact the Technology Support Center at (812-237-2910) and a support ticket will be created if the Technology Support Center cannot assist you.

  9. Are any other programs available for access through the ISU Portal?
Currently no other programs are available through the MyISU Portal at this time. OIT is investigating other software packages that may be delivered this way in the future.
