Facilities

The Department of Physical Education is located in the 230,000 square foot Health and Human Services building (PDF icon) .

Facilities include:

Biomechanics laboratory with Ariel Performance Analysis Systems for 3-D video analysis, a force platform for kinetic and EMG analysis, and an Ariel CES isokinetic strength testing unit.

Exercise physiology laboratory which includes a hydrostatic weighing facility for measuring body composition; an environmental chamber for controlling heat and humidity conditions; and full instrumentation for ECG interpretation and testing exercise, blood lactate, and pulmonary function.

Instructional analysis laboratory including wireless microphone systems and Panasonic camcorders, monitors, and VCRs to analyze and improve instructional effectiveness.

Motor learning laboratory featuring a Wayne Saccadic Fixator for coincidence anticipation, an Accuvision 1000 system, and a tachistoscope for visual perception.

Two large multi-use gymnasia that include a 200-meter indoor track and various court configurations for multiple courts in basketball, volleyball, badminton, and tennis.

An indoor swimming pool, weight training facilities, two dance rooms, and ten racquetball courts.

A 30 foot high indoor climbing wall.

Outdoor 400 meter track, sand volleyball courts, and numerous playing fields.
