
The Department of Political Science offers majors in both Political Science and Legal Studies. It also offers minors in these areas as well as in Civic Leadership and Public Administration.
At the graduate level, the department houses the Master’s of Public Administration degree program in addition to graduate certificate programs in public administration and in public personnel administration. The MPA and the certificate programs can be taken online.

minor) was recently presented with the 2011 President’s Award for Civic and
Community Leadership for his work with new and prospective students as well
as the broader community.

On March 24, 2011 the Indiana Court of Appeals made its annual visit to
Indiana State University to hear oral arguments in an appeals case. This
year’s case concerned a conviction on felony sexual battery charges. After
the oral arguments, the judges and lawyers answered questions from students.

Sarah Christian, who graduated with a Legal Studies major in May 2010,
has been interning at the American University in Cairo and was witness to
the democracy movement in Egypt in January-February 2011.

Dr. Gaston Fernandez presented lectures on American democracy with Dr. Richard Schneirov (Hist) at Liaoning University in Shenyang, China during a week-long visit to ISU’s partner university. Meanwhile, Dr. Mike Chambers led a two-week study tour of China for nine ISU students – including Poli Sci students Matt Huckleby and Justin Todd.
