Along with the experience of Alternative Spring Break, we also offer the option for students to participate in a 3-credit course: RCSM 485 - Community Development in Nonprofit Organizations. To obtain credit for RCSM 485, you must register for the course during the spring semester registration.
Students in RCSM 485 will write papers, complete a class project, and attend all Alternative Spring Break pre and post departure meetings. We encourage everyone to participate in the class, as it provides an opportunity to link classroom knowledge of social and political issues with the experiential learning from the trip. Additionally, it will allow you to analyze and reflect on your own personal development through the experience. RCSM 485 is also an elective for the Civic Leadership Minor.
