Enforcement

The Indiana State University Public Safety Department provides comprehensive law enforcement and security services to all components of the University including the academic campus, University Apartments, and all property owned and/or leased by the University.

The Department has 25 commissioned police officers, 5 emergency communications officers, and various administrative support personnel. Indiana State University Police officers are commissioned under Indiana State statute and have the full range of police authorities granted any municipal law enforcement officer on property owned by and/or under the control of Indiana State University (including adjacent streets and roadways).

ISU Police officers have also been sworn in by the Sheriff of the Vigo County Sheriff's Department, as a result, ISU Police officers also have jurisdiction within Vigo County, which includes the city of Terre Haute.

The Police Department's chief executive is the Director of Public Safety who reports to the University's Vice President of Student Affairs.
