Incomplete (IN)
Dropped Passing (DP)
Dropped Failing (DF)
Withdrew Passing (WP)
Withdrew Failing (WF)
No Grade Assigned (NX)
Incomplete (IN). Normally, an incomplete is
assigned only after a student and professor have discussed it.
The incomplete grade form indicates the date by which your work must
be completed and the grade to be assigned if you fail to complete
the course work by the deadline.
DP or DF. DP or DF is assigned to a course a
student has dropped. DP is assigned when the student was
passing at the time the course was dropped, and DF is assigned when
the student was failing at the time the course was dropped.
Neither grade is included in GPA calculations.
WP and WF. WP or WF is assigned to each course
for a student who has withdrawn from the university. WP is
assigned when the student was passing at the time of withdrawal, and
DF is assigned when the student was failing at the time of
withdrawal. Any grade of WF is included in the gpa
calculation.
NX. NX on a grade report indicates that the instructor did
not assign a grade for the course.
Any course may be repeated once for GPA improvement. The better of the two grades earned is used in gpa calculation. However, both grades will be recorded on the transcript.
If you believe an error was made in a grade assignment, you are encouraged to speak with your professor immediately. You may want to review the Procedures for Appeals of Academic Matters. If a professor determines an error was made in a grade assignment, s/he submits a change of grade form to the Dean's Office.

At the end of each graded term, students achieve one of three
academic standings:
Good Standing: cumulative GPA is 2.00 or above.
Academic Probation: cumulative GPA is
below 2.00.
Students on probation can enroll in a maximum of 13 credit hours.
Students who are on academic probation in a given semester will be
academically dismissed at the end of that semester if they fail to
earn the minimum term (semester) gpa required while on academic
probation (see "Academic Dismissal" below).
Academic Dismissal: term GPA was below
minimum requirement for students on academic probation, or term gpa
was 1.0 or less for first-term freshmen.
If a student is on academic probation and earns a term (semester)
gpa that is below the required minimum shown below, the student will
be academically dismissed following that term.
Academic dismissal of students on academic probation is determined
by earned hours:
0- 31 earned hours - dismissed if term GPA is 1.70 or less;
32 - 62 earned hours - dismissed if term GPA is less than
2.00;
63 or more earned hours - dismissed if term GPA is less than
2.20.
First-term freshmen are academically dismissed following their first
term if their term GPA is 1.0 or less.
After a first academic dismissal, a student must sit out of
classes a minimum of one regular term. Following a second
dismissal, a student must sit out a minimum of one year.
After the minimum suspension time, a student may submit a Petition
to Return following Academic Dismissal. No student may
return after being dismissed a third time.
If a Petition to Return is approved by the Dean, the student's
academic standing will be changed temporarily to "Probation-Dean's
Option" to allow registration for classes. Students returning
from academic dismissal are on probation and subject to the same
restrictions as all other students on academic probation. The
academic dismissal is not removed from a student's record.
Please note that the University Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
policy governing aid eligibility places students who are
academically dismissed on SAP Suspension. Aid Suspension must
be remedied separately from the academic process of return from
dismissal. Students must submit an appeal of SAP Suspension
directly to Financial Aid.
Students who achieve a term (semester) GPA of 3.75 or higher earn the honor of the "Dean's List".
