Support Staff Council

First of all, I would like to thank last year’s Support Staff Council officers, Kelly Hall, Anita Adams, and Patsy Weltich, for their dedicated service and leadership. As a member of that Executive Committee, I know that each of these officers brought great leadership and passion to the needs of all Support Staff at ISU. Kelly and Anita will continue to serve the Council in their respective districts as representatives.  

I would like to introduce the 2008-09 Council Officers who were elected at the May Council meeting. Joining me will be Vice Chair, Tracy McDaniel (Dept of Biology); Secretary, Jennifer Brewer (Admissions); and Treasurer, Patsy Weltich (Purchasing). Our term officially began on June 1st and we are looking forward to the upcoming year.

The Support Staff Annual Meeting was held on May 6th in the Hulman Center. Everyone in attendance received a Support Staff Council tote bag. If you were unable to attend and would like a tote bag, please contact Jennifer Brewer (jbrewer14@isugw.indstate.edu or X8307).

New and returning representatives were introduced as well as the inaugural Sycamore Staff Award was presented. For a list of the 2008 – 2009 representatives, please visit the Council website, www.indstate.edu/ssc.

Congratulations to Alice Adams (College of Business) and Debra Taylor (Library), they are the winners of the 2009 parking permits.  Also, thank you to the Public Relations Committee for a great job in planning this event!

The new Executive Committee has already been busy appointing members to the Council standing committees, establishing goals and objectives for the upcoming year, and planning our Support Staff Council Retreat that will be held in July. If you would like to join one of the standing committees, which include: Election Committee, Employee Relations Committee, Public Relations Committee, and Salary and Employee Benefits Committee, please send me an email with the name of the committee that you would like to serve on no later June 6th.

Personally, I would like to thank all of the new representatives for electing me as Council Chair. I feel honored to be representing the Council this year. If there is a goal that you would like to see the Council accomplish this year, please feel free to call me or email me.
