Khmer Rouge survivor to speak at ISU
    
Loung Ung was only five years old when the Khmer Rouge seized control of Cambodia and began a bloody reign that led to the deaths of an estimated 2 million people, including her parents and two siblings. The year was 1975.

Faculty Fulbright recipients reap rewards from experience
     Not only are Fulbright grants a prestigious honor to those receiving them, but the opportunities that the program affords are valuable beyond measure.

Student earns internship with National Geographic
     Connie Kelly, a graduate student in geography at Indiana State, has received a coveted National Geographic Society Internship for 2001.

‘City Styles’ the theme for upcoming scholarship benefit
     An upcoming event for the department of family and consumer sciences will raise funds for student scholarships and undoubtedly raise awareness of how important community support really is.

     ISU music professor Richard Zielinski agrees that he is a man of “passion.” The intensity with which he directs the Masterworks Chorale seems to confirm his unbridled enthusiasm for a “Passion” of another kind.

Donaghy Day set for April 17
     “Sycamores Sprucing up for Spring” is the theme for the 26th annual Donaghy Day celebration April 17 at Indiana State University.

Research Showcase set for April
     Indiana State University will showcase the research efforts of its students as part of the fifth annual Undergraduate/Graduate Research Showcase April 6-7 at the Hulman Memorial Student Union.

Baseball in Literature conference set for March 30
      If spring is on deck, can the national pastime be far behind? A sure sign of the season is the annual Baseball in Literature conference on the campus of Indiana State University.

Artist in residence exhibiting at ISU
     “Domestic Neon and Drawings,” a collection by artist Willem Volkersz, will be on display in the Indiana State University Art Gallery through April 5.

     Perched on a wicker stool, eyes closed and head bent toward the microphone in front of him, Kevin Snider strums a 12-string acoustic guitar and sings a hopeless tale about man in love with an alcoholic.

     Sycamore fans have bitten many a fingernail over a 2000-2001 basketball season that had more ups and downs than a Kings Island coaster ride.

Waltman answers questions at luncheon
     During the annual MVC Coach-of-the-Year Luncheon in St. Louis March 2, broadcaster Mitch Holthus conducted some Q and A with some Valley coaches. He quizzed ISU Coach Royce Waltman the day before the ISU-SIU rematch that the Sycamores ultimately won.
