TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Indiana State University continues to enjoy success in raising money for such things as student scholarships, enhancing the quality of programs and meeting other needs of the campus community. During the 2001-2002 fiscal year, ISU raised more than $6.5 million in support of such initiatives, $388,000 over goal and a 25 percent increase over last year's total. It also was the fifth consecutive year that gifts to the ISU Foundation exceeded $4 million. "The important success of our fund-raising results this past year again underscores the growing significance of major gifts and estate planning in our fund-raising program," said J. Robert Quatroche, vice president for university advancement and executive vice president of the ISU Foundation. "We are very pleased to have met and exceeded our annual goal for private support for the fifth consecutive year. This sustained success makes and important statement of the confidence our donors, alumni, and friends have in this University. The fund-raising staff, the foundation board, and our many volunteers are to be commended on their superb efforts that made these results possible." A major gift commitment of $2.2 million was made to help assist commuting and transfer students and women athletes. With $1.1 million being paid this year with $1 million designated for commuter and transfer students and $100,000 for athletic scholarships for women. The eighth annual President's Scholars Golf Outing, the major fund raiser for this prestigious scholarship program, raised $46,000. President's Scholarships pay full tuition, room board, books and fees (renewable for four years) for a select number of students each year. Development officers in the college and schools continue to work in helping University Development achieve its fund raising goals. They are:
