Benjamin appointed to AASCU
Council of State Representatives

Lloyd W. Benjamin IIITERRE HAUTE, Ind. Indiana State University President Lloyd W. Benjamin III has been appointed to the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Council of State Representatives.

As a member of the Council, Benjamin will be responsible for helping formulate and recommend public policy, respond to federal or state legislative matters of immediate concern, advise staff on public policy issues that affect public colleges and universities and observe and provide counsel on state higher education trends and issues.

"AASCU is an important voice for higher education in the United States, representing universities that have traditionally played a key role in educating teachers and engaging in public service.  Across the country, threatening external drivers--especially the economy and declining state support for higher education--pose special problems for higher education.  I'm pleased to be a part of the national effort organized by AASCU to address these strategic issues," Benjamin said.

Benjamin also currently serves on AASCU’s Committee of International Education. The American Association of State Colleges and Universities represents more than 430 public colleges, universities and systems of higher education throughout the United States and its territories.
