Santa Claus has come to town and is pausing at the Vigo County Historical Museum while he enjoys a Coca-Cola in that famous contour bottle that was born in Terre Haute.

Thanks to the Root family’s recent generous donation of Coca-Cola memorabilia, we now have the wonderful portrait of the "Jolly Old Elf" pictured here.

This is just one of several illustrations of Sundblom Santas that are on display.

The artist, Haddon Sundblom, is credited with creating the image of St. Nick that we all know and love. His Santas reflect the twinkling eyes, full white beard and rotund figure that was so creatively described in the poem, "Twas the Night Before Christmas."

Ease year, from 1931 to 1964, Mr. Sundblom created an advertisement for the Coca-Cola Co. that depicted Santa and friends in a festive holiday mode. These wonderful illustrations are as familiar as the oft quoted "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."

Stop by the museum during this holiday season to enjoy the lovely holiday decorations and newest addition to our Santa collection. We promise that during this busy time, your visit will be a "Pause That Refreshes!"
